Intelligence & Terrorism Unit

The Intelligence and Terrorism Unit monitors domestic and international information and events that have the potential to affect the safety and wellbeing of our community. The unit conducts threat assessments for mass gathering events, large venues and critical infrastructures within our jurisdiction. The unit’s personnel are assigned to various task forces and work groups comprised of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies which gather information and investigate domestic/foreign terrorism, organized crime and money laundering. The unit is also responsible for dignitary protection details and serves as a liaison to foreign consulates within the City of Miami.

Members participated in 52 protection/security details during the year, including the protection of the president elect of Colombia Ivan Duque Marquez and former US President Barack Obama.
