Intelligence & Terrorism Unit

The Intelligence and Terrorism Unit is dedicated to monitoring both domestic and international developments that may impact the safety and security of our community. This unit conducts comprehensive threat assessments for mass gatherings, large venues, and critical infrastructure within our jurisdiction. Personnel from this unit are assigned to various task forces and work groups involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, which collectively gather intelligence and investigate matters related to domestic and foreign terrorism, as well as organized crime.

Additionally, the unit provides protection services for local and visiting dignitaries and acts as a liaison to foreign consulates within the City of Miami. The unit is also tasked with investigating threats and securing Risk Protection Orders to prevent targeted acts of violence by individuals experiencing mental health crises.
