I participated for the first time in a Little Haiti One Stop event on July 10th with an agency that partnered with the City of Miami Police Department North District. The officers were very kind, courteous, professional, well-groomed and approachable. I felt very safe in their company as we met in the station, were escorted to the community location and then went to knocking on doors to share with this community the public services that are available to them. The icing on the cake was a DUV wrapped in Haitian heritage symbols, this symbolizes that the City of Miami Police Department is there and can  be trusted and are there for the community. Bravo!

Commander Freire brought the sergeant and two officers from the neighborhood enhancement program to meet with the officers of the board of directors for this large condominium complex of 440 apartments to discuss recent problems in the community regarding drug and alcohol abuse. I would like to commend first officer De Mello for going beyond the call of duty and assisting through my disorder during booking. She was more than helpful treated me in the most proper and respectful manner I felt human! I had a small traffic accident on 27th Ave SW Dixey Hwy, my fault as I miscalculated and hit a car that was changing lanes.
Ms. Johnson had a very proper and calm attitude, she conducted herself very professionally and clearly explained to the person that I hit the rights and obligations of each of us, she mediated in a very fair manner trying to accomplish a positive result for both of us; she managed to get us into the agreement that I offered from the get-go, once I had provided him with the name, address and person in charge of the shop to fix his car, and we were almost leaving, the other driver threatened me that he was going to come by my home, at that point and with no hesitation Ms. Johnson looked at me and firmly said that a report had to be made, I fully understood and compliment her position and her quick awareness that my safety was compromised, she let me know that she was going to give me a ticket, which is correct as I was at fault, but her determination to keep me save was her primary concern, she collected all the documents and diligently completed the report, while waiting she directed me to get inside my car, as the other person continue to be harsh towards me. even thou an unhappy event I am glad the way ended up and extremely happy with Ms. Johnson.  Once again THANKS Ms. Johnson, people like you make our City a better place.

Dear Chief Morales, I would like to express my gratitude for the impeccable service of Officer Gonzales. I was participating in a car accident (My vehicle was hit by a motor scooter). The event was stressful for me and my wife. After handling the accident in a very decisive and professional manner, he offered help and assistance to me in fixing the flat tire of my vehicle on the crowded avenue. I believe this was beyond his regular duties and I appreciated it highly under these tough circumstances for my family. In the end, he gave me instructions how to drive the vehicle to the repair station so there would be no risk of an accident with the spare tire. I wish you would have more such officers in law enforcement in Miami!

Recently I attended a local event (A Night with Friday) at the James L. Knight center Miami, and I must applaud the work of a particular officer, Officer W. Lewis Francois, who had an exemplary standout performance.  Officer W. My car MB SUV was stolen at above location while I attended a concert at the Scottish Rite Temple. Officer A. Rodriguez, Badge 43292, assisted me with the police report and showed concern about our safety at the late hour and made sure we were ok until the Uber picked us up. She was professional and offered detailed information as to the steps to follow, being the first time ever a car of mine was stolen and made me, and my friend feel safe in the surroundings. I commend Officer Rodriguez for a job well done!

For several months, I have walked my daughter and her friend to school, just about every single day I have witnessed cars parking on the sidewalk, making illegal u-turns, texting while driving, and speeding.  After several phone calls to numerous police departments, I finally was able to reach Marvin Cismondi. Marvin was courteous and professional and every aspect I can think of.  The following day I saw officers present and working with the community not to illegal park. Today, Jan 18, 2024, I witnessed motor officers enforcing the law and protecting our community.

The department's overall lack of communication has been frustrating to say the least, so every time I have asked him for help, he does so without hesitation and is happy to help. I see him working diligently in a professional manner constantly, stepping up where others have failed to. All of my interactions with police in Miami have been as a victim of crime, and Officer Romero is the only one who makes me feel like the department actually cares about the people they serve. I appreciate him for his genuine desire to serve the community he works for. The City of Miami is lucky to have him.

I'd like to commend this officer for her commitment to the citizens of the city of Miami. On this September morning Officer Mercado noticed an elderly lady whose vision wasn't 100% & she was walking with her walker through rocks & dirt. Officer Mercado exited her vehicle & made contact with the lady & advised her she isn't walking on the concrete path & she could possibly be at risk of falling. Officer Mercado than helped her to the concrete path & walked her all the way into the frescos. Because her act of kindness to the citizens of Miami I commend Officer Mercado.

We called for Police for assistance with a customer who threatened another customer with a knife.  Officer Rowley was able to handle the tense situation with excellent composure.  She was able to get the suspect to drop the weapon and she took him into custody without incident.  We are very grateful to have Officer Rowley working for the Miami Police Department.

We would like to acknowledge Office Calderon for his help and professionalism shown to my friends, wife, and I after the Yankee-Marlins game on Saturday, August 12th.  After the game we were directed by Marlin’s security to go to NW 16th Ave to obtain a taxi.  When we walked to that street it was obvious that there were no taxis there or waiting for customers.  After about 30 minutes waiting for a taxi, I approached Officer Calderon and asked him if there were other areas to obtain a taxi or even an Uber to get back to our hotel.  We are four senior citizens, one with a recent knee operation and walking a distance was not what we had in mind.  Officer Calderon helped by radioing for anyone that had a visual of a taxi to send them to our location.  When one came, another group of fans flagged the taxi down before it reached us.  After a while, Officer Calderon saw a cab coming down 7th street, flagged it down and held it until we could get in and be on our way.  It doesn't seem like much but for an out-of-towner in an area that we are unfamiliar with it was huge that Office Calderon took it upon himself and looked after our interest.  Thank you, Officer Calderon, for the help and professionalism that you shown to my friends, wife and I.  Stay safe!

He was so kind and helpful, most people would just give directions, he went above and beyond helping me, he did not have to get out of his cruiser in the rain to help me! I really appreciated it. I am writing this letter to express my heartfelt gratitude for the help that City of Miami Officer Herbello provided my grandmother and I with on April 19, 2023 around 8:30 PM. His kindness and professionalism has left a lasting impression.

My grandmother has had an ongoing issue in her apartment that Officer Herbello was previously called to months ago. Both times, she has asked the officers to call me and keep me updated and assist as needed. Although months apart, Officer Herbello quickly recalled who I was and actually reminded me of our previous conversation regarding the matter. This time he was able to come to a complete resolution, which helped her calm down tremendously. In both interactions, he was confident yet approachable and always reassuring. He was able to relate to her and meet her at her level to diffuse the situation. His explanations are thorough and his attention to detail cannot be understated.

This is positive community engagement in its best form. His dedication to the community is evident. We are grateful for officers like him!

My family and I attended an Active Shooter Training presented by the Shield of Miami- Dade Police Department, located at Little River Branch Library on March 16, 2023. The officer presenting was Officer Ellington. She was an amazing presenter.
 
Although the officer had a PowerPoint, she did not read verbatim from the slides.  She used the slides as a visual aide for the audience and as a guide for the presentation.  Not to mention, she kept everyone engaged by asking questions to the audience and pausing periodically through each slide. This was very refreshing because she gave additional information not listed on the slides and this also kept audience engaged. Officer Ellington had a very strong knowledge of the topic, active shooters.
 
Additionally, her communication skills during presentation were unmatched by most presenters.  Her body language and eye contact were very effective. Officer Ellington’s pronunciation was expressive and clear.
Furthermore, Officer Ellington was able to answer questions effectively and in detail.
 
I hope that this presentation could be presented at other locations.  Partnering with other departments, not just in Miami but in Broward and Palm Beach.  This is a necessary presentation for the public. Sometimes in these situations with active shooters, the public does not know the first step to take.  This Officer broke it down as simply as situational awareness.  Being aware of exits and surroundings is a start. She then went into additional steps: Run (if possible), Hide (if possible), Take Actions Against the active shooter (if possible).  Every situation is different but at least we, the public, have these three areas as a basis.  Phenomenal job.  The 45-minute drive from Broward County was worth it!

My neighbor and I were walking our dogs in the park and saw three police officers work to rescue a man in distress in the river. That river is one of the most polluted waterways in America so I was thankful they were there and willing to jump in to help the man. I saw in the news that only one of the officers was being recognized, but I can attest that it was a group effort (plus the guy on the Kiki boat). I am grateful for these officers and civilians assisting for this man. And just on a personal note, I am not often presented with images or narratives of police officers that are flattering. Witnessing these police officers valiantly perform their duties as I casually went about my daily routine truly altered my perception of the city’s force for the better.

Officer Powell responded to my request to have an officer come by to take some information after I received a response from the MPD regarding an online report I filed and was told I could not file online as there was a known suspect.
The reason I would like to commend Officer Powell is the way she conducted herself and easily walked me through the process. This was the 1st time I have ever interacted directly with the police regarding a crime, so I was not sure what to expect, plus being ill just makes it a bit more stressful. First, I would like to commend the MPD for the quick response time to a non-emergency. I had no idea an officer would show up the same day, in less than 20 mins, and after 7pm at that!! So, thank you very much.
Officer Powell was very polite and a pleasure to speak with. She asked very relevant questions and waited patiently for my answers since my illness does make me get out of breath at times. Lastly, I use a walker and throughout the entire time from going downstairs to the lobby to let Officer Powell in, she held the elevator and was just very mindful of my disability the entire time.

And officer Roberts used her personal story to ease my concerns even though she legally could take no course of action on my behalf.
